During my internship at Safran, I created and simulated Hyperloop Transportation Technologies' entire Hyperloop pod and Conducted studies on suspension and lateral stabilities systems through different phases of the pod's journey to provide feedback and recommendation to the design team at HTT.
My fourth-year Computer-Aided Design class focussed solely on FEA modelling methods as well the algorithms behind Ansys Optimization. The course's main deliverable was a 100-hour mapped mesh design optimization with 15 design variables. (See design experience)
Flux is a Magnetic FEA and I have had 1 on 1 training with an Altair Flux Specialist from the company. I used Flux frequently during my internship to develop breakthrough magnetic technologies related to the airplane and aviation landing gears.
I used Matlab for several courses including Kinematics and Dynamics and Dynamic and vibrations. Simulink was taught in my 3rd year Automatic Control Class. I further developed my skill at work by creating a model that simulated aircraft breaking and anti-skid functionality. Which I worked with the Avionics Team to tune the braking actuators.
Python is an integral part of the mechanical engineering curriculum at queen's which 3 courses focusing solely on computational and mathematical methods using python. Additionally, I frequently use the language to solve problems for other courses and at work.
Graphical design course that focused on both hand and CAD drawing/design skills. in addition, I have had to make multiple Solidworks models for a school project (see design experience). During my internship at SAFRAN, I used Catia to view models from the design engineers and also to come up with designs of my own.
Extensive use of Excel for both school and work. Created many spreadsheets with conditional formatting and macros for aircraft brake sizing, braking speeds, and test bench setup specifications.
As a kid, my favourite words were why and how. Since then my vocabulary has changed but I have never lost my drive for learning and discovering new things. my curiosity does not stop at engineering and technology but applies to everything from history to economics. I believe that my constant drive to learn has shaped me into a well-rounded individual who is capable of looking at problems from many angles and different perspectives.
I am a people person I love meeting new people and interacting with teammates. I have been on many different teams between work, school and sports and I have never had a big issue with anyone I have worked with. I believe there are two sides to every story and I always try to solve any differences or disagreements calmly and understandingly.
Even under large amounts of stress I always remain calm and try to focus on finding solutions to problems and getting them out of the way instead of panicking and letting them go to my head. In situations where everyone else is freaking out you will often find me calm and deep in thought as I believe that if there is a solution and you try your best to solve it then you can do it, but if not then don't let it hang over you just learn from it and move on.
